![]() Formed at the beginning of 2010 in East London, Orchestre du Mont-Plaisant is Catapulte Records' "all-star" band, it features Juste Akiss "Voyant" on guitar, Luke Warmcop "Sage" on drums and percussions, Piro "Vulgaire"" on bass and Graham Mushnik "Souffrant" on accordion and organ. Mainly instrumental but with bits of choir and screams, L'Orchestre play blues and dance pieces, with notable influences from Congolese Soucous, Ethiopian Jazz & Groove and South American Cumbia. Guys from 113 Dalston Lane wrote: 'Orchestre du Mont-Plaisant are an imaginary super group. Unless you catch them in hi-fidelity “London Easters” real life you’d reckon to be listening to 2 fifths The Doors (sleezy organ and stomp bass) one 5th Hank Marvin, and one splendidly gelling 5th of cajun (ish) accordian. The fifth fifth sets all in head bopping motion with perfectly uncomplicated yet striking chops. An uplifting gem of coalescent enterprise' L’Orchestre has already toured and performed in France, Germany, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro as well as performing regularly in its born-town. The omonimus first Lp was recorded in January 2011 in the French alps at Larsen-studio in Chambery and is now out on Catapulte. mp3 - Masanga Ya Mbila - 2011 mp3 - Io Ti Amo - 2010 |
